OUR STORY
Isipili
started with the unlikely combination of Malele and Angela.
Malele lives in the townships, loves soccer and has been
unemployed for most of his adult life but has a flair for
art, colour and creativity. Angela is a designer and mother
of two and has a deep desire to develop employment and a
creative outlet for more South Africans.
Together they formed isipili (meaning mirror in isiXhosa)
and have more recently, been joined by Vincent. It acts
as a creative outlet and financial income for Malele and
Vincent. For Angela, it's an opportunity to nurture new
talent and develop employment opportunities for people in
the townships. Isipili uses only South African manufactured
products and the creators get paid per mirror on completion
thereof.
Launched at the end of 2005 isipili is stocked at galleries and decor stores throughout South Africa as well as being exported to Germany. However this is just the beginning, as isipili grows and becomes financially secure so it aims to not only provide more creative employment opportunities but also to diversify the range of mirrors available.
Delivery can be arranged to anywhere in the world. To find out more about isipili contact us.
